The Welcome Project is a continuing collaboration with the Women's Program for Refugee Women from Africa and Middle Eastern Countries. Refugee women create auto-biographical works, drawing from the languages, cultures, objects, memories, and photographs of their homelands. The project is the joint effort of Kazarian and the Interchurch Refugee and Immigration Ministries (IRIM), in Chicago.
In the first stages of the project, collaged paper pieces were created using computer-enhanced prints, watercolor, gouache and drawing.
