Public Domain tested the parameters of creative public and private property by inviting passerbys on a commercial downtown Chicago street to contribute material--drawings, text, photographs, songs, and objects--for a site-specific public wall installation. The in-kind contributions were digitized and entered into a computer database, then selectively altered and re-presented as an installation.

At the end of the project, contributors joined in the final exhibition of the creative donations and the final installation of public domain (scenic) and public domain (grid), composed of 40 archival prints, each 22 x 22 inches.
Public domain (definition): the total absence of copyright protection, no exclusive rights. If something is "in the public domain" then anyone can copy it or use it in any way they wish.
